Wake for James J.T. Taylor and Benefit for ‘The Twisters’
Saturday, November 12th, 2005
Shamrock Hotel – 2101 11 Street SE, Calgary
3:00 pm – 10:00 pm

The blues communities of Calgary and Edmonton will gather at the Shamrock Hotel on Saturday November 12th to show their love and support and to raise funds for The Twisters, who suffered a horrific car crash last week. Bassist James Taylor was killed in the accident, and drummer Matt Pease remains in hospital with severe injuries.

The Twisters, 2003 Juno Nominees and Canadian Independent Music Award winners, are one of Canadas most beloved blues bands. We here in Calgary offer our deepest sympathy to surviving band members Dave, Sandy and Brandon, and our hearts go out to James’ wife Carla, one-year old daughter Rebecca, and his family and friends during this difficult time. We offer our prayers to Matt and wish him a speedy recovery.

The blues music community is a tight knit family, and there has been overwhelming support and love shown since this tragedy. The wake will celebrate James (J.T.) Taylor’s life and help raise funds to ease the financial burden placed upon his wife Carla and their daughter Rebecca, and fellow band members. Musicians from Calgary and Edmonton are coming together on November 12th to share the stage from from 3 until 10 pm in a jam session, and all blues fans are invited to attend.

For those of you who are unable to attend the wake but would like to make a contribution, donations can be made at any Royal Bank branch by writing a cheque to:
