Jazz Music Thrives in Toronto

Jazz FM 91 remains an integral part of the jazz scene in Toronto and beyond with its 24/7 jazz radio broadcasting and its concert presentations. The esteemed broadcaster continues to profile live jazz in the city with its Sound of Toronto fall/winter jazz series.

The sixth installment in the series begins on Monday at the Mod Club, and features six of Canada’s finest trumpeters in ‘Little Big Horn’, a tribute to the trumpet. The upcoming concert showcases the work of Chase Sanborn, Lina Allemano, Alexis Baro, Kevin Clark, John MacLeod and Kevin Turcotte, all backed by the Dave Restivo Trio.

Now in its 30th year, The Sound of Toronto Jazz Series offers eight shows at mid-town Toronto’s Mod Club Theatre and three jazz tribute specials at the Old Mill Inn in West Toronto.

JAZZ.FM91 is Canada’s only not-for-profit radio station dedicated to jazz and all its communities of interest. Programming, education and outreach initiatives are supported through membership, limited advertising, ticketed events, and grants from corporations and foundations.

Tickets for Little Big Horn are $22 – $25, and are available online at www.jazz.fm
