Diana Krall Releases Jazzy Christmas CD

Canadian born jazz vocalist/ pianist Diana Krall has released a Christmas CD that is sure to make it into every jazz lover’s stockings this holiday season. A collection of seasonal standards, the recording was co-produced by Grammy Award winning Tommy LaPuma, her collaborator of choice.

The twelve tracks are written by several composers of American popular classics, and is a swinging, simply stated and joyful work that will no doubt become a classic of its own.

The familiar favourites include White Christmas, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and the lesser known but beautifully rendered What are You Doing New Year’s Eve´┐Ż and Count Your Blessings.

Renowned arranger and bassist John Clayton, guitarist Anthony Wilson, Jeff Hamilton and bassist Bob Hurst join Krall for this outing, with the Clayton/Hamilton Orchestra making an appearance on four of the tracks. Johnny Mandel contributes a string arrangement to the project. Rounding out the album are previously released versions of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Christmas Time Is Here with a group that includes guitarist Russell Malone.

Don’t be surprised if you hear this CD frequently at friends and family’s homes over the next few weeks and for many years to come.
