Edmonton will be listening to a brand new radio station with the launch of Magic 99 this week. The station fits the adult contemporary market with its blend of jazz, blues and soft rock.

Jazz lovers will hear Canadian notables Michael Buble and Diana Krall alongside Norah Jones and Rod Stewart singing standards from The Great American Songbooks, and many other popular favourites.

Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt are just two of the full catalogue of blues artists, and contemporary music lovers will hear such greats as Phil Collins, Sting, Tina Turner, and Canadian superstars Jann Arden and k.d. lang among the hit-list of talent.

Every hour the station will salute the Legends with features on Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald and other jazz masters of the 20th Century.

The station will also be active in the community as a media sponsor for local presentations. In December Magic 99 is putting its name to The Nylons concert, the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, and Alberta Ballet’s The Nutcracker.

Magic 99 is heavily promoting their morning show with native Edmontonian Rob Christie returning to his hometown to re-acquaint himself with his loyal listeners.
