Calgary sees the great Mike Murley Duo come to town on Monday, January 23rd, in concert at the University Theatre. Saxophonist Murley, in tandem with guitarist David Occhipinti, will perform works from their new recording Duologue vol. 2. The University of Calgary Department of Music is presenting the Mike Murley Duo as part of their ongoing Jazz at the Theatre season.

Canadian saxophonist Mike Murley has emerged as one of Canada’s finest jazz artists and his critically acclaimed work as a leader and a sideman has placed him at the forefront of Canada’s jazz scene for more than a decade. Since winning the Juno Award in 1991, Mr. Murley has appeared on seven other Juno award-winning recordings and received twenty nominations for other albums as both a leader and a sideman. He was also a four-time recipient of the Jazz Report Award for tenor saxophonist of the year during the 1990s.

Mr. Murley will appear with guitarist David Occhipinti. Their first recording, Duologue met with great critical acclaim and was nominated for a Juno in 2004.
