International Prize for Jazz Soloist
26 – 27 – 28 MAY 2006

The International Massimo Urbani Award competition is now open to candidates for the International Prize For Jazz Soloists. The esteemed award is handed out in honour of Italy’s Massimo Urbani, hailed as one of the nation’s greatest jazz musicians.

The competition is open to candidates of any nation, instrumentation, and age group. Candidates are required to submit a demo recording, and in May will perform live for the jury of leading industry persons, including Artistic Director Paul Piangiarelli of the Philology Record Label, who have donated the first prize recording session.

The event will take place from May 26 to May 28, 2006 in Camerino (Macerata) Italy, during which time the candidates will perform twice for the jury and the public. The first prize winner receives a recording deal with Philology Records, with second and third prize winners receiving scholarships to the esteemed Umbria Jazz and Nuoro Jazz Summer Sessions. There is an additional prize given for the most public votes.
