The annual National Jazz Awards hosts its gala event April 10 in Toronto. Celebrating jazz excellence in Canada, the show will be hosted by radio personality Ralph Benmergui and vocalist Dee Daniels.

With 26 categories, nominees range from musician of the year to big band of the year. 2006 sees two new categories being added: Latin jazz artist of the year and the Paul Hoeffler jazz photographer of the year award.
