Mitch Watkins and Dianne Donovan

Jazz vocalist Dianne Donovan returns home to Edmonton from Austin, Texas with guitarist/husband Mitch Watkins, and they’ll be performing with the Andrew Glover Trio at the Yardbird Suite in Edmonton on March 17 & 18, 2006.

A veteran of the Edmonton jazz scene, Dianne has worked with many of the region’s finest musicians, and has performed all over North America in Gary Guthman’s “Tribute to Harry James”. She made numerous television appearances on “Tommy Bank’s Jazz” and other television specials.

Donovan is currently working on her third CD, her first two having received national airplay and critical acclaim. Her radio program “For the Love of Jazz” has been aired for over seventeen years at CJSR Radio in Edmonton, and she’s the popular host of CKUA Radio’s weekly program “Voices in Jazz”.

Guitarist Mitch Watkins has toured much of the globe working with a diverse group of artists including Bennie Wallace, Leonard Cohen, Jack Walrath, Bob Berg, Joe Ely, and Jennifer Warnes, and is now touring regularly with Lyle Lovett. Texas native Watkin is a regarded producer, and has released four of his own CD’s, with a fifth solo project soon be released on Viewpoint Records.

Joining Dianne and Mitch will be Dianne’s long-time collaborator, pianist/composer Andrew Glover with his trio of bassist Don Bradshaw, and drummer Mike Gillespie.
