Blues Singer Shemekia Copeland Launches Radio Show April 22nd on Sirius Satellite Radio

Beginning April 22, 2006, blues and soul singer Shemekia Copeland will host her weekly blues radio show on Sirius Radio. The program can be heard exclusively on SIRIUS Blues Channel 74, on Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm ET.

Copeland, who recently touched down in Calgary for one night on her tour with Buddy Guy, is a Grammy nominated blues and soul singer, and daughter of the late blues master Johnny Clyde Copeland. She released her debut recording Turn Up the Heat in 1997 at the age of nineteen, followed it with the Grammy nominated Wicked (2000), and Talking to Strangers (2002), and most recently, The Soul Truth in 2005.

For her SIRIUS show, Copeland will share stories of her life in the blues and play blues songs both familiar and obscure. “I warned them, ” said Copeland. “I’m taking over the airwaves. It’s gonna be great.”
