Deadline for Jazz Music Competition

JAZZ.FM91 and international record label Alma/Universal Music in Canada are looking for aspiring jazz students to enter the Project Jazz talent competition. Deadline for submissions is April 21, 2006.

Project Jazz is open to any jazz instrumentalist, vocalist, or composer who has never released a commercial recording, and who is currently registered as a music student at a Canadian college or university.

The winner, nominated by a panel of jazz experts and judged by a live audience later this spring at a Toronto concert, will receive a grand prize package that includes $15,000 from Alma/Universal Music Canada toward the production, promotion, and distribution of their first jazz CD, as well as extensive airplay and promotion on JAZZ.FM91, mentoring by a renowned jazz educator, and a feature performance in the acclaimed “Sound of Toronto” Jazz Concert Series.

Interested students are invited to submit a CD of not more than 15 minutes in length, a short bio, proof of enrollment in a Canadian college or university music program, and a completed entry form.
