Drummer Jon McCaslin Appears in Calgary with his Septet

Drummer Jon McCaslin has recently joined the Calgary jazz scene, and is making an appearance this weekend at BeatNiq Jazz Club with his septet. Appearing with his septet, the event marks the launch of his debut CD of new compositions. He is joined by some of the top players of the Calgary jazz music community for the event.

McCaslin graduated with distinction from McGill University’s Jazz Studies Program in 1999, and has since gone on to gain his Master’s in Jazz Performance. Recent engagements have seen Jon perform with such notables as Charlie Biddle, Andre White, Bob Moyer, Jeff Johnston, and the Montreal Jazz Big Band among the many. A deeply committed musician, McCaslin combines a hard swinging and musical style of drumming with imaginative and creative compositions.
