NOLA North III pays tribute to the “New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival”
The Ottawa Blues Society is pleased to announce the date of their first event for 2006, “NOLA North III” on Saturday, May 6th in Ottawa.
Running for the third year, “NOLA NORTH III” will pay tribute to the 36th Annual “New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival” which will take place the same weekend in “The Big Easy”. We will do this by celebrating the traditions & culture of the region. We hope to recreate the flavors of the event in “Nawlins style” with traditional entertainment, dance & cuisine.
“New Orleans Louisiana North III” (“NOLA North III”) will commence with an afternoon all ages “Cajun Front Porch Jam” from 1 to 4pm. This will be a Louisiana style jam session with a number of local guest performances. The second part of the event will start at 6:30 pm. with Louisiana & Mississippi delta inspired music from Ottawa’s own “Myers Brothers” & “Zydeco Loco”.
The OBS will be using proceeds from money raised for “Gimme Five!” an organization dedicated to help the needs of New Orleans’ musicians by aiding in continued recovery from Katrina’s flooding.
