Canadians show their love for jazz, selling out 2nd annual concert event

JAZZ.FM91 has announced an impressive list of headliners will perform for the 2006 edition of “Jazz Lives,” a live concert featuring a mix of established and emerging Canadian talent. “Jazz Lives” is to be held at Convocation Hall in Toronto, on Thursday, May 11th, 2006.

The “Jazz Lives” concept was originally created by President and CEO of JAZZ.FM91, Ross Porter, to spotlight some of the musicians whose music is featured on the station. In addition, the concert helps to generate funding for the not-for-profit radio station, which is currently undertaking their “Jazz Lives Here” spring fundraising campaign.

For the second year running the “Jazz Lives” event has sold out, demonstrating that Canadians strongly support and value the artistry of our nation, and the vital arts service JAZZ.FM91 provides them.

Among the many slated to perform for the “Jazz Lives” event are: Karrin Allyson, Alexis Baro, Robi Botos, Pat Carey, Terry Clark, Jeff Healey, Russ Little, Rob McConnell, Sophie Milman, Terez Montcalm, Jackie Richardson, Samba Squad, Reg Schwager, Joe Sealy, Ben Sidran, Neil Swainson, Swing Rosie, David Clayton Thomas, Kevin Turcotte, and Doug Riley.

The producer of “Jazz Lives” is Jaymz Bee, host of JAZZ.FM91’s “Jazz in the City”, and the Executive Producer is Ross Porter. This year the concert will be recorded for later broadcast.
