Ross Taggart Performs With His Trio Tonight at Cellar Jazz
Pianist and tenor saxophonist Ross Taggart will appear tonight with his trio of Ken Lister (bass) and Crag Scott (drums) at Cellar Jazz in Vancouver.
The talented multi-instrumentalist and recording artist is currently a member of the Juno award-winning Hugh Fraser Quintet, the Ian McDougall Sextet, the Vancouver Ensemble of Jazz Improvisation (VEJI), the Jill Townsend Big Band, Fred Stride’s Westcoast Jazz Orchestra, the Bill Coon Quartet, the Sharon Minemoto Quintet, as well as his own groups. He has toured Canada, the US, Cuba, South America, England, Ireland and Holland, appearing with such jazz greats as Clark Terry, Benny Golson, Lionel Hampton, Phil Woods, Kenny Wheeler, P.J. Perry, Rob McConnell, Don Thompson, Fraser MacPherson, Phil Nimmons, Pat LaBarbera, and Sam Noto, and many others. Other performance credits include the Colin James Band, the Powder Blues Band, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, the CBC Radio Orchestra, David Foster and Raffi.
Ross has been a faculty member of the Jazz Studies Department at Capilano College since 1998, has done several recordings for CBC radio and television, been featured on recordings by numerous jazz notables as well as released four CDs as a leader.
