Project Jazz Names Top 5 Finalists in Talent Competition

JAZZ.FM91 presents Project Jazz – the Final Five Concert in Toronto on Thursday, May 25th at Rex Jazz and Blues Bar.

Five finalists remain in the competition to name the top jazz youth talent in Canada. Project Jazz – the Final Five Concert is the last step of the competition, where the public is invited to participate in the selection of a winner, to be announced at the event. The five finalists were chosen by a panel of judges from the entries submitted by young jazz talent from across Canada.

An initiative of JAZZ.FM91 and Alma/Universal, the winner of Project Jazz competition will receive $15,000 towards the production of a debut CD, mentoring and professional assistance.


Sienna Dahlen: The first vocalist to have been accepted in the Masters of Music program at the University of Toronto, Sienna has been performing nationally and internationally for a decade.

Michael McClennan: One of Toronto’s busiest bassists, Michael is also a musical director and arranger. He’s studying towards a Masters Degree in Music Performance.

Nick Morgan: Has been studying saxophone since the age of 11, and currently studies in the Humber College Music Program.

Michael Ruby: A student in the University of Toronto Jazz Performance Program, multi-instrumentalist Michael has received several awards and scholarships.

Jonathan Scott: A native of Vancouver Island, the multi-instrumentalist is in his first year at Humber College taking a Bachelor’s Degree in Contemporary Music.
