Chamber Jazz in Calgary Tonight With Jazz Winds

Jazz Winds returns to Beatniq jazz club after a two year hiatus, appearing over two nights this weekend.

The eight piece ensemble, formed of local Calgary musicians, will perform music that stretches from the classics to high energy swing jazz. Much of the repertoire was written by the group’s members specifically for the ensemble, and features many new additions this season. Group moderator Jan Mulder and Jazz Winds conjure many images with their contemporary sound, such as a walk along Stephen Avenue complete with a visit to one of the many Irish pubs, and a wild ride down Calgary’s notorious Deerfoot Trail.
