Ottawa Blues Festival Continues to Grow

Starting in 1994, 5,000 people in the Ottawa area embraced what would become Canada’s largest blues festival, with nearly a quarter-million audience members attending the ten day event in recent years.

The annual festival kicks off today and runs through July 16th, expanding over the years from its blues roots to include the hottest acts in rock, hip hop, country and worldbeat.

Mainstage headliners including Bonnie Raitt, Etta James and Solomon Burke are set appear over the next week and a half at the Cisco Systems Bluesfest along with pop names Nelly Furtado, Michael Franti and Rihanna.

With four stages running the full ten days, there’s a lot to choose from.

The festival runs July 7 through July 16.
