Charlie Parker Arrangements Performed in Concert August 27

“Charlie Parker with Strings”, a free concert by saxophonist Darcy Hepner, will take place at the Fieldcote Museum in Ancaster, Ontario, just outside Hamilton on Sunday August 27th at 7PM. The event is the result of the discovery of long-lost arrangements made by Bird himself.

Saxophonist Hepner, a teacher at Hamilton, Ontario’s Mohawk College, was recently able to access some long-lost Charlie Parker arrangements which were used in the well-known “Charlie Parker with Strings” recordings.

“On August 27th I will be performing music from the original “Charlie Parker with Strings” sessions as part of the summer music festival at the Fieldcote Museum in Ancaster, Ontario. Bird recorded this music during his groundbreaking 1949-1950 period and the original arrangements stand on their own as classics.”
