Jazz Musicians Headline Harvest of Music
The 8th annual Qualicum Beach Harvest of Music starts tomorrow and runs through October 1st, and will feature headlining international jazz artists, traditional Japanese taiko drumming and dancing, klezmer music, a bluegrass concert, the Lafayette String Quartet, and more.
The nine days of music events includes evening, happy hour and noon-hour concert performances, a vocal workshop, children’s concerts, and a selection of clinics and private lessons with visiting musicians.
Jazz music plays a major role in the festival, with “The Three Tenors”, Canadian saxophone giants, Phil Dwyer, Jim Cameron, and Nick McGowan, teaming up with a veteran rhythm section for a concert September 23rd, pianist Andy LaVerne performs with his trio September 30 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and October 1 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and the gypsy jazz Adam Dobres Trio performs in concert on Tuesday, September 26th, among the many events.
