Juno Award-winner Will Perform in Double-header Concert

The Calgary Blues Music Association will present Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne, the 2006 JUNO Award-winner for “Blues Album of the Year,” in concert on October 21, backed by another Canadian great, Donald Ray Johnson and his band. The concert is followed by a dance with the popular Calgary dance band, Mocking Shadows Rhythm & Blues Revue.

Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne is known for his charismatic and energetic performances. HIs rockin’ blues and boogie-woogie piano are spiced with a taste of Kansas City Swing and New Orleans Rhythm, while his warm vocal style adds a West Coast blues sound. The ‘Blues Boss’ has made many headline appearances under his own name, and has backed artists including Charles Mingus, Jimmy Reed, Sonny Rhodes, Joe Louis Walker, and Jeff Healey. Winner of this year’s JUNO Award for “Best Blues Album’, Kenny has garnered numerous other awards and recognition for his performances, song-writing, and recordings.

Mocking Shadows Rhythm & Blues Revue is a 7-piece dance band & one of Calgary’s favourites, amazing crowds with their massive repertoire and their energetic R&B, blues, roots, funk, soul, and reggae grooves.
