Edmonton Creative Musician’s Collective Performs Informal Concert

The Edmonton Creative Musician’s Collective, featuring pianist/composer Glen Halls, will present an informal concert on Sunday, Nov 26 at the University of Alberta. Performing an evening of improvised music and avante garde jazz, the group will perform at 7:30 PM in Studio 27 ( 2nd floor) of the Fine Arts Building. The concert is free to the general public.

Glen Halls received his Ph.D. in Composition from the University of Victoria in 1995, going on to teach at the University of Calgary, the University of Alberta, and York University in Toronto, where he served as director of the jazz program and contemporary improvisation studio. As a composer he has been the recipient of national and international awards, and as a jazz pianist, Glen Halls is regarded as one of the most innovative and explosive players in the country. He is also the founder of Deeksha records, dedicated to the promotion of contemporary jazz and improvised music.
