Bassist Petrovitch to Appear in Concert Performance

Bassist Carlo Petrovitch brings his sextet to the stage in Regina on Friday, Nov 24, for a concert performance as part of the Regina Jazz Series. Forming the sextet are Petrovitch (bass), , Cheny Lambert (trumpet), Chris Jacklin (alto, tenor saxophone), Colin Neufeld (trombone), Randy Epp (piano), and Roy Sydiaha (drums).

Graduating from the University of Regina in 1996 with a BMUS in Classical Bass Performance, Petrovitch followed by studying in the Jazz Performance program at McGill University. While in Montreal he played in the house band at the Famous ‘Biddles’ Jazz club before moving to Calgary in 1998, where he performed regularly in the vibrant jazz scene. Back in Regina in 2000 Carlo founded and led the popular swing group ‘Jivedaddy and the Swingkings,’ and since that time has been one of the city’s first-call players to support touring and recording artists such as vocalist Renee Lee, and saxophonist Richard Underhill (of Shuffle Demons fame) when their tours have included Saskatchewan dates. Carlo has studied with bassist Michael Leiter (Montreal Symphony), Garrett (Calgary Phil), and has attended master classes with Jon Deak (NY Phil), Ludwig Streicher (Berlin Phil), and Jon Clayton (Count Basie, Diana Krall). In the past year Carlo has continued his bass studies with instruction from Rufus Reid (Joe Henderson, JJ Johnson).
