Canadian jazz music live
One of Canada’s greatest musical groups is appearing this weekend at The Cellar in Vancouver, when the Hugh Fraser Quintet will perform two nights, Dec. 22 & 23.
Appearing with trombonist/pianist Fraser is Cam Ryga (alto saxophone), Ross Taggart (tenor saxophone, piano), Ken Lister (bass), and Dave Robbins (drums).
One of the greatest jazz musicians Canada has ever produced, Fraser has lead the quintet through multiple live performances, and released four albums, the JUNO award winning (1988) ‘Looking Up’, the 1989 CARAS award-winner and JUNO nominated ‘Pas de Problem’, ‘Red and Blue’, winner of 1996 Pacific Music Industry Award for Best Jazz Album of th Year, and ‘In the Mean Time’, winner of the 1998 Juno Award for Best Mainstream Jazz Album.
