Christmas Homecoming (2006) Sees Musicians Return From all Corners of the Globe

Six of Regina’s finest jazz musicians return home for the holidays and will be making a special appearance, The Homecoming Concert, on Dec. 29th at Le Bistro.

Andy King (trumpet), Donny Kennedy (alto saxophone), Kelly Jefferson (tenor saxophone), Greg Duncan (guitar), Rob Hutchinson (bass) and Jon McCaslin (drums) are headlining the Homecoming, which will showcase the talents of these up-and-coming artists in the intimate club setting.

Drummer McCaslin, who is based in Calgary, who is known for his work with the ensemble Barrage, has toured North America.

Saxophonist Jefferson is a two-time nominee of the National Jazz Awards (2005, 2006), for Saxophonist Of The Year nominee at the 2005 and 2006 National Jazz Awards, and currently is an instructor at York University in Toronto.

Trumpeter King performs regularly in Morocco.

Kennedy leads and composes for his own sextet in Montreal, where he is the jazz combo co-ordinator at McGill. Kennedy keeps busy by teaching and playing with various ensembles.

Guitarist Duncan returns home from Boston, where he has spent the past five years attending the New England Conservatory of Music, and is active on the Boston jazz scene.

London (UK) based bassist Hutchinson recently received a masters degree in double bass performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
