Memorial for Dutch Mason Set For January 21
Canada’s Prime Minister of the Blues will be paid tribute on January 21 when family, fans, musicians, and friends come together to celebrate his life at a memorial service to be held in Halifax.
The service will be held at the Olympic Community Centre from 5-7 p.m., and will be followed by a blues tribute led by the great master’s son Garrett Mason and a host of local blues artists.
Mason, one of Canada’s most prominent bluesmen, passed away at his home on Dec. 23 at the age of 68 after a lengthy illness.
A leader on the blues scene for over 50 years, JUNO-winner Dutch Mason was presented the Order of Canada and is paid tribute annually at the Dutch Mason Blues Festival.
