Raum/Ulmer Quintet pays tribute to J.J. Johnson, Kai Winding

Jazz Regina launches another great concert in its ongoing series on Feb. 2 with a tribute to J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding, featuring the Raum/Ulmer Quintet,.

J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding, two of the finest trombone players jazz ever produced, each celebrated long and highly successful careers. The pair also enjoyed received critical acclaim for a series of duo recordings they released in the 50’s.

Notable musicians themselves, trombonists Richard Raum and Ross Ulmer bring their quintet sound to the stage to pay their musical respects to the great jazz masters. The evening is dedicated to the memory of local drummer Gary Arnusch, who passed away Dec. 29,2006.
