Bruno Hubert Trio Records Second Cellar Jazz Live CD
One of our country’s best-kept jazz secrets, Vancouver’s Bruno Hubert returns to the Cellar Wednesday, Feb. 28 & Thursday, March 1 to record his new trio project with bassist Andre LeChance and drummer Brad Turner.
The session marks the second recording for the trio, who previously released the critically acclaimed Get Out of Town, recorded live at the Cellar in 2002.
Hubert, a Quebec born jazz pianist now based out of Vancouver, is known as a responsive player with a quirky rhythmic approach, a dogged attack and melodic lines that give this work an mercurial originality. Aside from his work as leader, Bruno has performed and/or recorded with Sheila Jordan, Denzal Sinclaire, Eastwind Jazz Quintet, and Brad Turner among the many.
