Calgary Bluesfest Announces First Headline Acts for 2007

The Calgary International Blues Festival presents their third annual festival this summer from August 23 – 26th, 2007.

Along with the announcement of their first headline acts comes the news of the group’s new home base at Pumphouse Park, adjacent to the Pumphouse Theatre in Calgary. The 2007 festival will take place at the new venue, extending to four days from the previous three.

Featuring more than 140 musicians and over 30 bands on the mainstage, headliners announced to date include the legendary Edgar Winter Band (Texas), blues icon The Duke Robillard Band (Rhode Island), guitar wizard and composer Rick Derringer Band (Florida), R&B keyboard giant Kelley Hunt (Kansas), and from Calgary, saxophonist Mike Clark & Band, and the acoustic Highwater Jug Band.

In addition to the four days on location, Calgary Bluesfest will also present a host of events during the week leading up to the event, including workshops, noon hour performances, a featured showcase with the Hammond B3 organ, a special acoustic blues in the round concert, and a literary/music event.

Passes are on sale now at www.calgarybluesfest.com or at Megatunes in Calgary and Edmonton.
