Jazz Singer Coughlin Releases His New CD in Victoria

Jazz vocalist Joe Coughlin releases his new CD Things Turn Out That Way on Thursday, March 22 at Hermann’s Jazz Club in Victoria.

Coughlin, who is known for his velvety baritone and melodic, swinging vocal style, is joined for the event by the group that appears on the album; Pat Coleman (guitar), Tony Genge (piano), Mike Herriott (trumpet, flugel), Ken Lister (bass), Bill Runge (tenor saxophone, flute), and featuring Buff Allen (drums). Things Turn Out That Way (Roadhouse Records, 2007) features a mix of standards and originals, among them co-writes with Colin Lazzerini and Mike Herriott.

With more than two decades in the business, Joe Coughlin has performed clubs across North America and on tour with legends like Dizzy Gillespie and Woody Herman. He has released four previous albums featuring the cream of Canadian jazz, including his 2000 Simple Pleasure featuring Pat Coleman (guitar), Ken Lister (bass), Ross Taggart (piano, tenor saxophone), which earned him the National Jazz Award for ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ in 2000.
