3rd Annual Jazz Lives Concert LIneup Announced
JAZZ.FM91 presents the third annual Jazz Lives Thursday, May 3rd at Convocation Hall in Toronto, featuring a top-drawer roster of today’s jazz giants and tomorrow’s most promising stars.
Jazz Lives serves to showcase the brilliant jazz musicians featured on the JAZZ.FM91 airwaves, while helping to raise funds for the broadcaster, the only non-profit radio station in Canada dedicated to jazz.
The concert, which will begin at 8:00 p.m. on May 3, will be recorded for later broadcast. The star-studded lineup will perform individually and together in what is described as a “singularly unique jazz experience” by President and CEO of JAZZ.FM91, Ross Porter. JAZZ.FM91 host Jaymz Bee is producer for the event, while bassist/composer Roberto Occhipinti acts as Music Director.
With more names still to be added to the roster, artists announced to date include saxophonist/clarinetist Colleen Allen, vocalist Emilie-Claire Barlow, Kevin Clark and The Last Call Brass Band with Kevin Clark, Paul Mitchel (turmpets)l; Dan Douglas (trombone); Chris Plock, Richard Underhill (saxophones); Ross Wooldridge (clarinet); Steve Butterworth, Paul Neufeld (trumpets); Tony Quarrington (banjo); Denis Keldie (accordion); Richard Greenspoon, Great Bob Scott(drums), jazz vocalist Kurt Elling, drummer Davide DiRenzo, guitarist/trumpeter/singer Jeff Healey, pianist Laurence Hobgood, saxophonist Pat LaBarbera, guitarist Kevin Laliberte, pianist Adam Makowicz, Latin jazz artist Amanda Martinez, vocalist Sophie Milman, the Mississauga Youth Choir gospel ensemble, bassist/bandleader Roberto Occhipinti, singer/guitarist Kenny Rankin, pianist Dave Restivo, rising saxophone star Michael Ruby, guitarist Reg Schwager, and clarinetist/pianist Ross Wooldridge.
