Vancouver jazz vocalist, composer Melody Diachun featured on CBC’s “Tonic”

Jazz vocalist/composer Melody Diachun’s 2006 release dreams and places will be featured on CBC Radio 2’s new show “Tonic” tonight (Saturday).

“TONIC” is CBC’s latest jazz offering, running Saturday and Sunday each week, with weekend host Tim Tamashiro, a Calgary-based entertainer. Tamashiro’s weekly playlists include the “extended family of jazz” with swing, funk, latin and more. The show runs weekends on both Radio One and Radio 2.

On Saturday, April 7, Tamashiro will be playing a selection of Melody Diachun’s songs from her dreams and places from 6-8 pm this evening. The album is noted for its catchy songs, smooth vocals and deluxe production, and moves between jazz, soul and funky pop. Diachun contributes four originals to the project, performed masterfully by the vocalist and fellow Vancouver musicians Doug Stephenson (bass, guitar), and Bob Murphy (piano).
