Calgary Jazz Performance Series features Shane Statz Quartet

Saxophonist Shane Statz brings his quartet to the stage as part of the Calgary Jazz Performance Series. Statz will be joined by Tynan Groves (guitar), Simon Fisk (bass), and Jackie Walker (drums) for the performance on Wednesday, April 25 at the Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Centre.

The evening will feature mostly original music ranging from extremely simple to densely complex. This band’s emerging sound is a unique experience.

Statz, who plays saxophone, flute and clarinet, is a graduate of Humber College with a Music Performance Diploma in jazz. Teaching for over 5 years and performing with many groups in Calgary, Shane is the ultimate professional musician. Shane has an amazing ability to switch from woodwind to wind instruments. He is well versed in classical styles and all jazz styles.

The Calgary Jazz Performance Series features 7 concerts throughout the season, and showcases some of Calgary’s finest jazz musicians and ensembles with a focus on original work. Concerts are held once a month on Wednesday evenings, and alternate between the Cliff Bungalow – Mission Community Centre and the Hillhurst / Sunnyside Community Centre.
