Hugh Fraser to Appear at Saskatoon’s Bassment
The Juno Award-winning Hugh Fraser Quintet makes a stop in Saskatoon on Thursday, May 11 to perform at the Bassment as part of a three-city Canadian tour.
The Concerto Tour will pay homage to great Canadian and international jazz musicians. The quintet, formed in 1987 by the dynamic Fraser, has won armloads of awards for their recordings, and tour Europe, North America and South America regularly.
Fraser, a well-known Canadian jazz figure, has won two Juno Awards and recorded more than 100 original compositions on 17 albums. The Victoria, B.C., musician has worked teaching music for several years, including as the program head of jazz at the Banff Centre for Fine Arts.
The composer, trombonist and pianist has performed or recorded with jazz greats like Dizzy Gillespie and Slide Hampton. Fraser and the Quintet have been performing and recording together since 1986.
