Dan Silljer Quartet Performs Tribute to John Scofield
Regina guitarist Dan Silljer brings his Quartet to the stage in Regina on Friday, May 18, when the group appears at Le Bistro to perform a Tribute to John Scofield as part of Regina Jazz’ ongoing concert series.
Left-handed guitar slinger Dan Silljer has burned up the scene in the last decade, as he blends the past, present and future of the blues into one powerful sound. Dan has performed across Central and Western Canada, appearing on such mainstages as the Minnedosa Classic Rock Festival, Flatland Music Festival, Regina Mid-Winter Blues Festival and the Sasktel Saskatoon Jazz Festival. In 2005 he traveled to Vladivoskok, Russia, where he performed a special concert for Canada Day celebrations. Silljer has shared the stage with a number of blues greats, including Toronto’s Jeff Healey and Regina’s Jack Semple, and in March 2007 was an invited guest of the Robert Cray Band at the Casino Regina Show Lounge. Most recently, Dan was one of the headline artists featured at Guitarmania Vlll, in April 2007.
John Scofield’s guitar style is a true comination of jazz and rock techniques producing an instrumental music with a firm base in jazz traditions, shaed by the best characteristics of rock, rhythm and blues, country and more. Scofield’s credits include touring and recording with Miles Davis for three years.
