Calgary host to Brazilian Folk Festival

The Brazilian Community Association of Alberta, based in Calgary, will present Fiesta Junina, a Brazilian Folk Festival, on Saturday, June 30th, at the Gateway Lounge.

The event offers a total Brazilian immersion, with food, and traditional dance and music groups.

Capping off the evening is a performance by the Montreal-based Bombolesse, a 7-piece Latin group who perform a fusion of Brazil’s popular music such as Pagode, Baiao, and Samba reggae with contemporary jazz and rock rhythms.

The Canadian-Brazilian ensemble has toured Mexico, USA, Canada, Ecuador, Colombia, and Africa, and released their debut CD Bombolesse, Musique Bresillianisee “Pucha-pucha” (The Bros Disc) in May of 2006.
