Blues Acts Included in Calgary’s Canada Day Celebrations
The City of Calgary is celebrating Canada’s 140th birthday with a one-day festival that includes music, arts and crafts, food and merchandise booths, fireworks, activities and more.
Included in the celebration are a variety of concerts scheduled during the day and into the evening, with stages at Prince’s Island Park and at Olympic Plaza hosting some of Canada’s finest musicians.
Headliners include Calgary blues & roots group Highwater Jug Band, Regina blues guitarist Jack Semple, and Toronto singer-songwriter Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo fame. Other acts include Calgary’s swing-folk group the Polyjesters, the funky R&B band Mocking Shadows, folk-pop band the Plaid Tongued Devils, and former Calgary singer-songwriter Lullaby Baxter, among the many.
All events run rain or shine, and are free of charge.
