Regina Guitarist Jack Semple Spreads the Word
One of Canada’s finest guitarists, Jack Semple makes his debut appearance this Sunday, at the Montreal Jazz Festival as part of the ‘Les Spectacles Blues Loto Quebec’ concert series. Semple will perform at 7:00 pm on July 8th at Fred-Barry Park.
Starting out his musical career playing with various Regina-based bands, Jack burst onto the Canadian national scene by winning the MuchMusic contest “Guitar Wars” in 1992.
Jack joined the Lincolns, briefly moving to Toronto, but returned to the prairies to pursue his own unique artistic dreams, while providing a quality of life for his young family unrealistic in metro Toronto.
Jack frequently is in demand, especially in Western Canada, touring both solo, with favourite guest artist friends, and of course, with “The Jack Semple Band”. After his move back to Regina, Jack became more involved in the television and movie score business and even made a brief jump into acting, in the title role of “Guitar Man” in 1994.
With a half-dozen critically acclaimed recordings under his belt, Jack’s latest CD, “Tribute to LIghtfoot”, was released in spring of this year.
