Blues Benefit Hopes to Raise $50k
On Saturday, September 15th, local blues musicians and their fans will gather at the Telus Convention Centre’s to help raise funds for the Burn Care for Kids Blues Benefit 2007.
A host of blues musicians will lend their names to the second annual event, appearing in performance on two stages at MacLeod Hall, from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Among the many names on the headline roster are Grammy Award-winning vocalist/drummer Donald Ray Johnson, vocalist/pianist Kelly Jay of Crowbar fame, and Vancouver-based Russell Jackson, bass player and alumnus of the B.B. King Orchestra.
The musicians will donate their performances and have contributed their recordings to a silent auction, helping raise funds for juvenile burn patients. The event hopes to raise $50,000, raising the bar from the impressive $17, 904.13 raised in 2006.
