<description>Bob Day was my friend, teacher and it is a great loss to our musical community that he is gone.
He was a very kind man, and a really good teacher, even if he didn't think of himself as a natural teacher.
I went to the funeral, on behalf of my father as well, and it was very hard for me. I left early, not because I didn't want to stay and visit with everyone, but I needed to sob for a while. I got a few looks from people, like, why're you so upset? Bob Day was there for me and my Dad during a particularly rough patch, when I was just visiting from Toronto, and when I first moved to Calgary. His unconditional love stays with me always.

<description>I was very saddened to recently hear of the loss of Bob Day. I had the pleasure of hearing his fine music as part of the Bob Erlendson Band at Marty's Cafe in
Calgary twice a week for several years.
It is a great loss to the jazz community and myself
personally.
My deepest condolences to his family , friends and
 fans. marty hoffman
