Winnipeg Blues Great Celebrates CD Release

Winnipeg blues guitarist Billy Joe Green celebrates the release of his new compilation The Best of Billy Joe Green, with a live performance at the Pyramid Cabaret in Winnipeg on Saturday, Sept. 22. Joining Billy Joe and his band will be special guests Don Burnstick, Gord Kidder, Percy Tuesday, and X-Status.

Compiled and re-mastered by producer Paul James, The Best of Billy
Joe Green (Strongfront Records), features ten original songs culled from the multiple award-winning Green’s previously released recordings, along with a remake of the Jagger/Richards classic Far Away Eyes, paying homage to Green’s experience as sideman for country-blues artists like Percy Tuesday and the late Robbie Brass.

Billy Joe Green is considered one of Canada’s finest blues guitarists and an acclaimed songwriter. Green draws on his life experiences to produce his inspired songs, having overcome immense hurdles such as being placed in a residential school for a decade, and childhood alcohol addiction. Green’s success story inspired others to find hope, and the talented musician found himself forging a busy career on stages across North America and recording two multiple award-winning CD’s Muskrat Blues & Rock and Roll (2006) and My Ojibway Experience: Strength and Hope (2001).
