Trombonist Leads Quintet on 14-City CD Release Tour
The William Carn Quintet continues their cross-Canada tour in support of their latest CD, Lessons Learned (2007), and will stop in Regina on September 28th to perform at Le Bistro as part of the Regina Jazz’ ongoing concert season.
The quintet of Toronto jazz greats is led by contemporary jazz trombonist and composer William Carn, who is joined for the 14-city tour by Kelly Jefferson (tenor saxophone), David Braid (piano), Kieran Overs (bass), and Anthony Michelli (drums).
Trombonist and composer William Carn is a busy freelance musician in Toronto, performing and recording with a wide range of jazz, classical, pop and other artists, as well as writing for and leading the William Carn Quintet. His work has been well-received, with the group’s debut release Other Stories, having been nominated for a 2007 Juno Award as Traditional Jazz Album of the Year. Carn has also been nominated for Trombonist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Lessons Learned (2007) is the William Carn Quintet’s sophomore release, featuring nine of trombonist Carn’s original modern jazz compositions performed by the all-star quintet.
