Dave Klinger Leads Calgary Ellington Orchestra

Led by Calgary pianist and conductor Dave Klinger, the Calgary Ellington Orchestra will perform the jazz master’s swinging version of the Nutcracker Suite this Sunday, November 18 at the Glenbow Theatre. An afternoon performance, the concert begins at 2:00 p.m.

Dave Klinger is a highly regarded pianist, arranger, and educator, who has been contributing to the local scene for over four decades. His range of experience has seen him performing on stages with orchestras, dance bands and jazz combos, as well as a busy musical director for opera and musical companies.

A sought-after teacher, Klinger has developed Piano Adventures by Ear, a course for those who would like to play by ear, and conducting jazz violin workshops for Suzuki conferences held in Calgary.

Klinger’s Ellington Orchestra sees the Calgary musician wearing many hats, as musical director, conductor and playing piano in the ensemble. Founding the orchestra in 2003, the popular group has played to sold out houses in Calgary ever since.
