Guitarist Strips it Down for Intimate Acoustic Concert
Canadian blues guitarist David Gogo returns to Calgary Friday, January 18 to perform as part of the Epcor Centre’s Carma Acoustic Blues Series.
Running for it’s tenth season, the Carma Acoustic Blues Series features leading blues musicians from around the globe performing in a pared-down format in the intimate setting of the Engineered Air Theatre.
Vancouver-based David Gogo is best known for his ability to integrate blues, soul and rock into his electric shows, his energetic and fiery performances wowing audiences throughout the world. Featured as the fourth concert in the Carma Acoustic Blues Series, Gogo’s upcoming Calgary date sees the musician performing in the acoustic setting playing his 1930 National Steel resonator guitar.
As a budding musician Gogo was encouraged by none other than guitar legend Stevie Ray Vaughn, kicking off a career that has taken him to the top of the blues industry and building him a long list of impressive performance and recording credits. The multiple-award winning musician has released ten albums to date and shared the stage with such legends as B.B. King, Little Feat, Johnny Winter, Otis Rush and a host of others, appearing at such prestigious venues as the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
Following the Calgary concert, David Gogo will set out on tour through Europe as special guest with legendary UK rockers, Wishbone Ash. The tour will support the release of his new CD Vibe (Dixiefrog Records), due to hit stores in January, 2008.
