New York based saxophonist Curtis MacDonald returns home to Calgary for Christmas and will be performing several dates while in the city.

On Saturday, December 22, MacDonald will host the jazz jam at Broken City in the afternoon, then perform later that evening at BeatNiq jazz club. Appearing in quartet, joining MacDonald for the show are guitarist Aaron Young, bassist Simon Fisk and drummer Andy Ericson.

On Friday, December 28, the alto saxophonist returns to BeatNiq to perform as part of the Karl Schwonik Quartet.

Curtis MacDonald picked up the saxophone as a child, moving to New York at the age of 17 to study at The New School University, finishing third in his class.

Since graduation, Curtis has been employed as a in-house Composer for Manhattan-based Audiobrain Sound Design Studio and is a contract arranger, film score composer and bandleader.

He is currently a faculty member at The Parsons School of Design, where he teaches a class on Sound Design.
