Edmonton Pianist Appears in Quartet

Edmonton jazz pianist and composer Andrew Glover will appear at Beat Niq in Calgary with his quartet featuring Wes Yaciuk (guitar) Jamie Cooper (drums), and Joseph Mast Lubinsky (bass).

The artist will be showcasing music from his latest releases, a double-set of albums Smooth and Not So Smooth (Indie/2007). The pair of CD’s follow up Glover’s previous release Forward Motion (2005), the critically acclaimed album seeing him step out as leader and featuring his original composition performed by a collective of Canadian jazz greats.

A graduate of Grant MacEwan Community College, Andrew Glover is recognized as one of Western Canada’s finest pianist and keyboard players as well as prolific and accomplished composer whose work has been performed and recorded by some of the top musicians in jazz, roots and pop music.

With a long list of performance credits behind his name, Glover has worked with a wide range of artists from diverse backgrounds such as UK pop singer Sheena Easton, New York jazz saxophonist Scott Hamilton, with Canada’s legendary jazz vocalist Big Miller’s Band, Regina’s Juno award-winning guitar master Jack Semple, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, among the many.

Many artists have performed and recorded Andrew’s compositions, including six of the eleven compositions on Jack Semple’s Grey and Yellow, as well as four songs for Dianne Donovan’s Yes or No. He was also a principal writer for Edmonton fusion group ‘Pazzport’. Andrew’s compositions have also been chosen for recording/performance by John Abercrombie, Anna Beaumont, Caroline Mae Johnson, Jacek Kochan, Pat LaBarbera, Theresa Lightfoot, George McFetridge, Don Thompson, Jean-Pierre Zanella, and Alfie Zappacosta.
