British Jazz Legends Join Big Band Orchestra For Matinee Concert
Toronto All-Star Big Band presents A Sunday Afternoon With Cleo Laine & John Dankworth, in an afternoon performance at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, at Hammerson Hall in Mississauga.
Jazz Legends Dame Cleo Laine, who is the only female performer ever nominated in 3 Grammy categories, jazz, pop and classical, is renowned for her extraordinary range and technique. Along with husband Sir John Dankworth, equally renowned arranger, composer, and instrumentalist, the pair are considered British national treasures.

Toronto All-Star Big Band
The 17-piece Toronto All-Star Big Band, is an ensemble is formed by youths between 15 and 21 years who perform a repertoire rooted in 20th century jazz traditional and Swing era. The group has appeared throughout Ontario and the U.S., appearing at venues such Elliot Lake Entertainment Series, Roselawn Centre Jazz & Blues Series, Beaches International Jazz Festival, and New York’s Riviera Theatre. The group has also appeared on national television, and toured throughout Florida.
In recent years, the Toronto All-Star Big Band moved into self-presented productions and themed shows featuring original music revues such as an innovative radio broadcast theme, a Christmas Special, and collaborations with legendary giants of the Big Band era, including vibraphonist Peter Appleyard, jazz vocalists Ranee Lee and Jackie Richardson, clarinetist Buddy De Franco and trumpet legend Clark Terry.
