Octet Performs the Music of Astor Piazzolla

Kent Sangster’s Obsessions Octet is featured at the Yardbird Suite in Edmonton this Saturday, Feb. 16th.

The award-winning group features Edmonton’s leading classical/jazz musicians, with Joanna Ciapka-Sangster (violin), Anna Kozak (violin), Rhonda Henshaw (viola), Ronda Metszies (cello), Wayne Feschuk (piano), Rubim De Toledo (bass) and Sandro Dominelli (drums), are directed by saxophonist Kent Sangster.

Releasing their debut album Obsessions in 2006, Obsessions Octet were nominated for a 2007 Juno Award and recently captured a 2007 Western Canadian Music Award. The album is an experiment with classical strings and jazz rhythms, featuring the deeply passionate melodies of Astor Piazzolla and an elegant mixture of classical, tango and jazz.
