Crema Tours in Support of New CD Release

Vancouver jazz vocalist Laura Crema will be touring Alberta this month in support of her latest CD release, Spring is Here. Crema will stop in Calgary on Friday, March 7 to perform with her quartet including George McFetridge (piano), Bill Coon (guitar), Paul Rushka (bass) and Paul Townsend (drums), at Beat Niq. The group will appear the following night at the Yardbird Suite in Edmonton.

Spring is Here was released in Canada in October, 2007, showcases Crema’s exceptional musical voice and is produced by the accomplished musician, composer and producer Brad Turner. The 12 tracks feature the stellar musicianship of Bill Coon, George McFetridge, Nino DiPasqual, Paul Rushka, Paul Townsend including Brad Turner and is a collection of songs by composers ranging from Billy Strayhorn to the Beatles.

Laura Crema possesses a lush, unique voice with great depth and resonance, her influences are broad and diverse as she blends jazz with popular music and improvisation. A graduate of Simon Fraser University with a degree in Fine and Performing Arts, and Economics, she has studied at the Banff Centre for the Arts with legendary jazz vocalists Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton and in Washington State with Nancy King and Kurt Elling. Crema is an accomplished dancer, choreographer and interdisciplinary performer and the recipient of numerous awards and grants including an “Emergence” Canada Council Grant for her work in the interdisciplinary arts.
