Marshall’s Quartet to Perform Original Music

Toronto saxophonist and composer Scott Marshall brings his quartet to the stage at Beat Niq for two nights, Friday & Saturday, March 14 & 15. Formed by Marshall (tenor, soprano saxophones), Marcel Aucoin (piano), Wes Neal (bass) and Ted Warren (drums), the Scott Marshall Quartet performs all original music.

Upon graduation from North Texas University (1999), Marshall relocated to Toronto from Calgary, becoming a busy musician on the local scene and teaching for the Toronto School Board as well as privately.

Marshall has performed and toured with his own ensembles and with the likes of Persian superstar Shadmehr Aghilli, Hot Toddy, Lyne Tremblay, Out of Order, Whitney Smith’s Big Steam Band, and NOJO, entertaining audiences in Europe, Dubai, the U.S. and Canada.

He’s released two CD’s under his own name, in a trio format for Face It, and quartet for Nine Moments of Time.

His compositions have also been recorded for CD projects by Toronto group Out of Order and singer Lyne Tremblay, while his film work includes the soundtrack of Consistent C Films and Dessart production’s The Loss and the award-winning East Hill short production, Rise Up. The Royal Ontario Museum hired Scott to research and arrange the music for a show to coincide with the opening of the Deco Exhibit at the museum, which was re-staged at the Distillery Jazz Festival as a headline act.
