Blues legend Buddy Guy will be appearing in Toronto at Massey Hall on Saturday, April 5 at 8:00 pm, marking the fourth consecutive year the renowned artist has appeared in Canada’s largest city.

A 5-time Grammy Award winning guitarist, Buddy Guy has been well-documented as a pioneer of the Chicago-style electric blues sound and for helping to bridge the sound into its post-modern era. Among the many prestigious recognitions are his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as well as 23 W.C. Handy Blues Awards, and the Billboard Century Awards.

The renowned showman who’s known for his distinctive guitar mastery and vibrant showmanship was featured in Martin Scorsese’s 2004 documentary film about the blues, Lightning in a Bottle, and can be heard on nearly 30 albums. His latest, Can’t Quit the Blues, spans his 5 decade career in music and includes six previously unreleased tracks on the three disc set, along with a 90-minute DVD documentary on his life and career, including featured performances from his many Montreux Jazz Festival appearances dating back to 1974.

In 2003 Buddy was honoured with the coveted Medal of Arts, awarded by the President of the United States for his extraordinary contribution to the arts. The Chicago blues king is also the proprietor of Buddy Guy’s Legends, the premier blues nightclub in downtown Chicago, established in 1989.
